Following the Jailbreak to 1.1.3 you want the new January Software Upgrade dont you? Those lovely apps like Mail, Maps and the wiggly icons. I had a few apps installed at the base 1.1.3 to make sure they worked post update to SpringBoard, like NES. Not sure if this is the reason this method worked so well, but hey. Install a few things first if you havnt already.
Lets walk you through hacking SpringBoard, I have only done this from a PC so not sure about a Mac, sorry.
PLEASE NOTE: Permissions are important and can cause you to be locked out of your iTouch!!!
With that said, I hope you have paid for these features. But most people hack so they dont have to. Im not here to judge.
Pre tasks:
Download WinSCP.
Download and extract Sdelta3
Now we are ready to hack our springboard and gain access to these glorius apps.
Connect your iTouch to the network using wireless. And check its IP address.
Easiest way I have found to do this is to go to the Add wirless screen and press the blue arrow. (Settings > Wi-Fi).
Ok so we know the IP address of the iTouch. From a PC on the network launch WinSCP. Enter the IP address. Leave port number at default.
Now the login details. As mentioned earlier, you need to have SSH. The login name is “root” and the password is what you entered, if you left it default it will be “alpine”.
And away we go.
Now you should be connected to the itouch in an explorer style window. Great, keep going up a level till you get to the root. Now go to: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
In here you will see a file called “SpringBoard” with no extention and no icon. Copy this to the folder for sDelta3.
Minumize the WinSCP window we will need it later. Now rename “SpringBoard” to “SpringBoardorig”.
Right click on the file: cygwin1.dll and select Open With. Find command prompt, it should be in /Windows/system32 it will be called “cmd.exe”.
Run the following Command:
sdelta3 SpringBoardorig SpringBoard_patch.sd3 > SpringBoard
You will now see a new “SpringBoard” file. This is the nice updated, hacked version. Copy this file back to your iTouch using WinSCP. Permissions should be correct but you can check them anyway using Properties. It should be set to 755.
Rebood your iPod and you are ALLLL done
